Meet Our Team:
Chet Burge, CPA - Managing Partner
Chet is a Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of experience working with individuals, as well as small and large businesses assisting them with their financial, accounting, and tax needs. Chet began his career in the Atlanta office of Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) and spent over five years in the audit and assurance practice serving businesses throughout the Southeast. After leaving PWC, Chet spent the next fifteen years in various finance positions with Atlanta companies, serving in the roles of Controller, VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. In January 2008, Chet fulfilled his desire to return to public accounting and joined the firm of Lewis & Company and most recently became the Managing Partner of the firm which is now known as Burge & Associates, PC.
Chet is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with a bachelors degree in accounting. Chet currently serves on the board and is chair of the audit committee of Tandem Bank. He is also an active member of the Decatur Rotary. Chet, his wife Lee Beth, and their four children are longtime residents of Decatur, GA where they are very active in their church, local schools and community.
Chad Swanson, CPA - Partner

Chad is a Certified Public Accountant with over 15 years of experience in taxation. Chad has assisted individuals, as well as small and large businesses with tax and accounting related matters. Prior to joining Burge & Associates in early 2016, he worked in Raleigh and Miami with a large regional public accounting firm. Chad is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2004. Prior to starting his career in public accounting, Chad spent three years living and working in China.
Ramon Rodriguez - Partner & Accounting Director
Ramon is a Decatur native with over 14 years of bookkeeping experience. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia, Michigan State University, and Kennesaw State University; where at the latter he completed his MBA focusing on accounting and finance courses. Before joining Burge & Associates, Ramon worked for almost 7 years for an airport concessonaire preparing financials for various restaurant franchises. Away from the office Ramon is an avid sports fan, and also enjoys traveling and cooking with his wife, Amanda. Ramon is also a fluent Spanish speaker.
Lucas Bradstreet, CPA - Tax Manager

Lucas
is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience in corporate and individual
taxation. Prior to re-joining the firm in early 2022, he worked in Greenville, SC with a large
regional public accounting firm specializing in closely held business tax matters and high net worth
individual clients. Lucas is a member of the AICPA and graduated from Bob Jones University with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He enjoys assisting clients from large established
businesses to small entrepreneurs in maximizing their tax savings and setting them up for success.
He loves to spend time with his family and riding his motorcycle through the
mountains.
Brett Moss - Tax Manager
Brett is an Enrolled Agent with over 7 years of experience in business and individual taxation. Brett began his career in public accounting in Birmingham, AL before moving back to Georgia in 2022. Brett has specialized in small business tax and accounting compliance along with helping small business owners with individual tax compliance. Brett graduated from Birmingham Southern College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2017. Brett and his family currently reside in Adairsville, GA. He enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports.
Matt Barnett - Tax Manager
Matt is a Certified Public Accountant with over 7 years of experience in business and individual taxation. Matt began his career in public accounting in Birmingham, AL at RSM US, LLP. Matt has assisted with businesses of all sizes specializing in closely held business tax matters and high net worth individual clients. Matt graduated from Samford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2017 and with a Masters in Accounting from Colorado State University in 2018. Matt and his family currently reside in Birmingham, AL. He enjoys playing sports, volunteering at church, and spending time with his family.

Karen Ashley, CPA - Tax Manager
Karen
is a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of experience working with small businesses and
individuals on their tax needs. Karen began her career at Ernst & Young in Atlanta, working with
owner operated companies in their Entrepreneurial Tax Consulting and Compliance practice. When she
left public accounting to raise her family, she took over the bookkeeping of several family owned
real estate businesses. She is currently the CFO of six family entities, managing bookkeeping, cash
flow, payroll and taxes. Karen joined Burge & Associates in February 2015 as a seasonal tax
preparer.
Karen is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BBA) and a Masters of Accountancy in Tax (MAcc-Tax). Karen and her family live in Dunwoody, GA where they are active in their church youth music programs and scouting.
Quinten Pegues - Senior Tax Staff
Quinten joined Burge and Associates as a seasoned tax professional in June 2025. After starting with the IRS, Quinten began his public accounting career in 2007 and has over 15 years' experience working with individuals and small businesses owners with tax and accounting compliance. Quinten graduated from University of West of GA with BBA in Accounting and BBA in Finance in 2005. He enjoys spending time with his family and binging tv shows with his wife.
Nate Wagoner - Tax Staff
Nate joined Burge & Associates as a tax intern in January 2024 and transitioned to a full-time role after graduating from Kennesaw State University. Born and raised in the metro Atlanta area, Nate is excited to work with professionals in his local community. Outside of the office, he runs his own online music school. As a small business owner, Nate understands the unique financial challenges that entrepreneurs face and is passionate about helping them navigate the complexities of tax law. He is committed to providing practical advice and solutions that enable clients to make informed decisions, supporting both their business growth and long-term financial success.
Sharon Holland - Tax Staff
Sharon joined the tax staff at Burge & Associates in 2018. Her road to accounting was not typical as she spent the last 30 years as a teacher. In her “second act,” she studied Financial Accounting and Individual Income Tax and found a perfect match with the detail and organization required in tax preparation. Sharon and her husband lived in the Atlanta area, but currently reside in Cypress, Texas. They have a daughter and son at Texas A&M.
Ayana Wright - Accounting Supervisor
Ayana joined Burge &
Associates in July 2016. She moved from New Jersey in 2010 to finish high school and in
2015, she graduated from Southern Crescent Technical College with an Associate’s of
Applied Science in Accounting. Ayana also holds a Bookkeeper Certification from the National
Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers. She is looking to go back to school to further
her education in accounting and take the CPA exam in the future. She is very excited about
learning and gaining first-hand experience in accounting here at Burge &
Associates.
Crystal Zhang - Senior Accounting Staff
Crystal
graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with
a concentration in Accounting. In her spare time, she loves to cook, travel and hike
with her husband and dogs.
Cadye Chesna - Accounting Staff
Cadye
is a Gwinnett County native who joined the Burge & Associates team in September 2021
after moving back from Virginia. In Virginia, Cadye began her bookkeeping career as the
bookkeeper for a public middle school. She received her Bachelor’s degree while
attending and playing college soccer at Presbyterian College. Outside of the office,
Cadye enjoys watching reality tv, trying new foods, watching Atlanta sports teams, or
hanging out with her family and friends, and fur baby, Chloe.
Luciana Achierno - Accounting Staff
Luciana
joined Burge & Associates in January 2021. She is from Argentina and moved to
Decatur with her husband and two boys in 2016. Luciana graduated from University as a
Systems Analyst and has worked many years as an administrative assistant, helping in the
bookkeeping area as well. She is very excited to be part of this excellent accounting
team, learning and gaining experience.
Rebecca Hembree - Accounting Staff
Heather Marler - Accounting Staff
Heather joined Burge & Associates in February 2015, returning home to Atlanta after 15 years working as a financial professional in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began her career as an independent bookkeeper and in 2007 she transitioned into non-profit accounting at the Institute on Aging. There she acted as private trustee, executor, power of attorney for finance, and court appointed conservator; in 2010 she sat for the state and national exams and became a National Certified Guardian and CA Licensed Professional Fiduciary. She is excited to be working in public accounting with Burge & Associates and is currently pursuing an advanced degree.
Shelby Chopson - Administrative & Accounting Specialist
Shelby joined Burge & Associates as a bookkeeping intern in January 2025 but quickly took on more responsibilities around the office. She started working full time in May 2025, assisting with administrative tasks, bookkeeping, and payroll. Shelby graduated from Berry College in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences and now lives in Atlanta with her family. In her free time she enjoys reading, video games, and playing music, among other hobbies.
Jenny Rose - Office Manager
Jenny
is an Atlanta native who joined Burge & Associates in July 2019 with a
background in office administration in both the private and nonprofit sectors. She
is a graduate of Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a
Master of Public Administration (MPA). Jenny lives in Snellville where she and her
husband are raising their identical twin boys. Away from the office, Jenny is a
photographer and enjoys documenting the lives of her family and
others.
Becky Chopson - Administrative Assistant
After the completion of many years in the home education field, Becky returned to the workforce as an administrative assistant with Burge & Associates in 2018. Besides home education, she served in various administrative assistant positions in veterinary and college offices, as well as a teacher’s assistant for a private school. After living several years in Gwinnett county, she and her husband, Mark, moved inside the perimeter of Atlanta and are enjoying all that city life has to offer, as well as living closer to their family in midtown.
Before
joining Burge and Associates in 2021, Rebecca got her degree in Anthropology. She
has volunteered in museums throughout the Atlanta area, helping preserve their
artifacts and facilitate their education programs. In her spare time, she loves to
cook, read, and learn more about the many different cultures of the
world.
